The other day, I shared a few engagement sessions that took place in the beautiful setting of Pure Michigan. While it was awesome to explore some new areas and take full advantage of the beautiful fall we’ve had, there’s still a huge soft spot in our hearts for Toledo and we are always excited to head downtown with our couples. Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of spending the day with two more engaged couples - this time, a little closer to home. If these sessions don’t encourage you to spend some time in downtown Toledo, I’m not sure what will.
First, we spent what was supposed to be a rainy Sunday afternoon with Kaleigh & Tyler. We kept a close eye on the forecast (90% chance of rain!) all week, and even made a contingency plan of indoor locations the morning of the session. We agreed to start at Black Cloister Brewery, one of our favorite spots. This brewery has some awesome architectural features and an even more awesome beer selection. In the case of rain, we figured we could also head over to the library and check out the train station, which have overhangs in case we needed to dodge any rain showers.
As it turns out, the forecast can’t be trusted. The rain cleared up by early afternoon and the overcast clouds were the perfect backdrop for this industrial setting. We were able to explore the streets of downtown and had a great time getting to know these two. We still made a stop at the train station and may or may not have got kicked out when we ventured too far. It was well worth it and we can’t wait to spend time with these two again next June!
We started our next session, with Andi & Sean, where the couple met - Ladyfield Catholic School. Yes, these two have been in each other's lives since elementary school! Ladyfield is no longer open, but the slightly overgrown landscaping and the almost-creepy abandoned-ness of the site really enhance the awesome Gothic architecture of the school. Having Bert, their adorably loveable puppy, around was an added bonus. We enjoyed walking through the beautiful fall leaves and playing with Bert before heading downtown.
Our friend Angie at the Blarney Event Center was kind enough to meet us and take us up to the rooftop for an awesome view. We cannot say enough awesome things about the Blarney. We were at this exact place about a year ago celebrating our wedding with the most amazing family and friends and it is always a joy to come back! Now, here with Andi & Sean, we got to create even more awesome memories.
We made our way back down to ground level and headed (again) to our favorite spot, Black Cloister. These two, like us, truly appreciate a fine brew, so I was excited to have them try our local favorite. We enjoyed each other’s company (and a couple of beers) a bit longer before calling it an evening. Another wonderful engagement session in the books and we can’t wait for their big day next October!
