Last weekend, we found ourselves in Hensville yet again. If you remember, we were at Top of Nine a couple weeks ago for Kristine & Ryan’s big day. This week, we got to see another new downtown venue - The Armory above Fleetwood’s Tap Room.
We met DJ & Marie when they invited us to The German Village in Columbus for their engagement session. They are a sweet couple who appreciate the character of the neighborhood that they call home, they enjoy a good brew and have great stories of their travels. Not to mention, they have an adorable pup named Riggs who may or may not have stolen the show at their session!
The day started at Park Inn Hotel. The gals relaxed as they put on the finishing touches of makeup and the most adorable unique striped kelly green skirts and mismatched navy tops. It was the perfect combo for this beautiful summer wedding. Marie slipped into her Mikaella Bridal gown from Ivy Bridal and looked absolutely flawless.
We took a trolley over to the Oliver House for Marie & DJ’s first look. They shared a few sweet moments alone, anticipating the excitement that was about to come. With the whole bridal party and family together, the energy quickly built. We could tell this group was going to be a blast.
The trolley made its way to the stunning Historic Church of St. Patrick in Downtown Toledo. After a lovely ceremony, guests filed out and cheered DJ & Marie on as they exited through the gorgeous wooden doors right onto the trolley. No time was wasted as DJ popped a bottle of champagne and the bridesmaids & groomsmen joined the party. We had a fun ride over to the Toledo Museum of Art for some photos. Before I knew it, the groom and his groomsmen were taking their socks off! Apparently DJ isn’t a fan of socks, so it is only natural that this would happen on his wedding day.
We continued the party at The Blarney for a drink and made one last surprise stop at Fifth Third Field. The men put on their custom baseball jerseys that DJ got them and took to the field with a whiffle ball and bat. To say this group loves baseball is an understatement. They were chanting and cheering each other on with the same excitement you’d see at an actual game. Marie took the pitcher's mound and struck her new husband out This gang was an absolute blast. We had such a great time and the fun didn’t end there.
We ended the party in The Armory above Fleetwood’s Tap Room. We were thrilled to check out another new wedding venue downtown and it did not disappoint. Exposed brick, perfect view of the city, the sunset shining through the windows and rooftop access overlooking Fifth Third Field. The Element kept the party going all night and family and friends literally shook the dance floor. It was an absolute blast!
While Marie & DJ are enjoying a relaxing honeymoon at St.Lucia, we are getting ready for Katheryn & Jake’s wedding this weekend! We are thrilled to see this beautiful day come together for this sweet couple. Here’s to another wonderful Summer wedding!
