It seems to be the year for double wedding weekends. We’ve been kicking off our weekends on Friday with one couple and then continuing the fun on Saturday with another. Last weekend, we spent our Friday with Sarah & Derrik. After their engagement session in Royal Oak last fall, we knew we could expect a fun and beautiful day with these young loves. Derrik has been working hard to finish up school, se he and Sarah deserved some extra stress-free fun and cutting up on the dance floor. I would say their wedding definitely delivered!
Faces were filled with smiles from the moment we arrived. Sarah stepped into her beautiful gown and placed her birdcage veil perfectly. Everyone was anxious to come together for the first look and seeing Derrik's reaction was well worth the wait. Their love for each other and excitement to finally get married was undeniable.
The ceremony was officiated by Sarah’s own grandfather, which put an even more meaningful twist to this special day. Afterwards, the newlyweds made their grand exit to bubbles before bustling the dress and heading downtown to celebrate.
Part of the awesomeness of having your reception at one of the Hensville venues is getting access to the field of the Toledo Mudhens Stadium. The bridal party got to just hangout and throw a ball around. Derrik even made a home run! Meanwhile, their guests watched from the rooftop cocktail hour of the venue.
Once the party was moved inside, we got a real taste of who these people are. The energy level was through the roof and the dance moves were beyond impressive. Not only did we enjoy seeing Derrik twirl his bride around the dance floor under the twinkling string lights, but Sarah and her father performed a hilarious choreographed dance, ending with what seemed like all the guests making a mad dash to fill the dance floor. I don’t think we saw the actual floor for the rest of the evening! The whole crowd was having a blast dancing the evening away. We were treated to one more choreographed dance featuring Derrik and his groomsmen before calling it a night.
This was such a ridiculously fun day from start to finish. Be sure to scroll down and see for yourself!
